ZIBAWU’s 2024-2025 Strategic Plan: Resilience and Consolidation
ZIBAWU operates under a clear strategic framework designed to strengthen the union, unite our membership, and establish long-term sustainability. Our current strategic plan covers July 2024 to December 2025, guided by three SMART objectives.
Objective 1: Developing and Strengthening the Trade Union
Organizational Capacity Building
- Develop a comprehensive information management system
- Maintain an up-to-date membership database
- Strengthen administrative and technical capacity
- Improve internal communication systems
Solidarity and Collaboration
- Collaborate with other unions and labour organizations
- Maintain strong affiliation with UNI Global Union
- Strengthen relationships with civic organizations and development partners
- Participate actively in ZCTU and regional labour forums
Objective 2: Uniting and Developing Membership Participation
Membership Service
- Provide annual branded regalia to members
- Deliver trade union education and capacity building programs
- Maintain and improve the funeral scheme
- Increase women participation in union leadership and activities
Organizing and Recruitment
- Increase union density to 80% across the financial sector
- Train organizers in new recruitment strategies
- Develop compelling campaign materials
- Expand into underrepresented sectors (microfinance, building societies)
Advocacy and Campaigns
- Campaign for progressive social and economic policies
- Promote occupational safety and health in the workplace
- Advocate for gender equity and elimination of workplace harassment
- Engage in public awareness campaigns on workers' rights
Objective 3: Establishing Self-Sustainability
Investments and Income Generating Projects
- Develop and manage income-generating projects
- Explore microfinance institution opportunities
- Acquire additional office buildings
- Diversify revenue streams to reduce dependence on membership dues
