The Root Causes of Bank Failures in Zimbabwe Since the Year 2008 to 2015
A 23-page research paper by Shingirayi Kondongwe examining the unprecedented bank closures in Zimbabwe’s banking sector since 2000. The study identifies poor corporate governance practices as the root cause of bank failures, along with weak regulatory frameworks, poor economic conditions, and under-capitalization. The research analyzes the effects of bank closures including loss of confidence and employment, and suggests solutions to improve Zimbabwe’s financial sector.
