ZIBAWU’s National Executive Committee – Elected by Members, Accountable to Members

The Zimbabwe Banks and Allied Workers Union is governed by the National Executive Committee (NEC), elected democratically by members at Congress. Our leadership is committed to transparency, accountability, and advancing the interests of all ZIBAWU members.

National Executive Committee

Tawanda Mutemi – President

Tawanda is a results-driven transformational leader and seasoned advocate for workers’ rights, currently serving his final term as President of ZIBAWU, a position he has held since July 2019. Under his stewardship, the Union has flourished—representing nearly 4,000 members across the financial services sector with renewed strength, unity, and purpose.

As Chairman of both the National Executive Committee and the National Council, Tawanda leads a dedicated team of Executive Members, Secretariat, and Technical Staff, fostering a culture of principled leadership and operational excellence. His tenure has been marked by transformative achievements, including significant growth in Union membership, substantial wage improvements across the sector, and enhanced member services that reflect a deep commitment to worker welfare.

Tawanda has overseen the successful execution of ZIBAWU’s strategic plan under the theme “Resilience and Consolidation,” guiding the Union through its most impactful period in modern history. His leadership has not only consolidated gains but also inspired a united and forward-looking movement—anchored in integrity, solidarity, and progress.

Afurejineti Goto – First Vice President

Afurejineti joined the ZIBAWU Executive in 2010 and has risen through the ranks to become First Vice President. He has led the Organizing Committee, Projects and Investment Committee, and Finance and Administration Committee. Currently serving as ZCTU North-Eastern Regional Secretary, Afurejineti has represented 74 employees in disciplinary hearings, winning 69 cases—a testament to his dedication and legal acumen.

He has led numerous workers’ actions at ZIBAWU, POSB, and ZCTU, always emphasizing adherence to proper procedures before customer service. His leadership has been instrumental in strengthening ZIBAWU’s organizing capacity and member representation.

Rhoda Nyadundu – Second Vice President

Rhoda brings over 10 years of trade union service to her role as Second Vice President. Employed by AFC Commercial Bank, she has served as Vice Secretary, Secretary, and Chairperson of her bank’s National Workers Executive Committee. As an inaugural member of the National Young Workers Structure, she served first as Vice Chairperson and later as Chairperson.

Elected as 3rd Vice President in 2021 and elevated to 2nd Vice President in 2023, Rhoda is a passionate advocate for gender equity and the empowerment of women and youth in the labour movement. She also serves on the UNI-Africa Finance Committee, representing ZIBAWU on the continental stage.

Tendai Doreen Mutseriwa – Third Vice President

Tendai Doreen Mutseriwa is a committed trade unionist and banking professional who joined ZIBAWU in 2002. Over the years, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to worker advocacy, rising through the ranks to become the 3rd President of ZIBAWU. Her tenure is marked by a strong focus on labor rights, gender equity, and organizational development within the financial sector.

Prior to her current role, Tendai served in several key positions within the union, including Treasurer of the Women Advisory Committee, Vice Secretary, and Chairperson. In each of these roles, she contributed significantly to policy formulation, member engagement, and the empowerment of women in banking. Her leadership continues to inspire and drive positive change across the industry.

Tendai Madamombe – Treasurer

Tendai brings over 12 years of dedicated service to ZIBAWU. Employed by Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe, he currently serves as National Workers’ Committee Chairperson for his institution. Described as a dedicated, results-oriented leader, Tendai is passionate about justice and worker empowerment.

As Treasurer, he oversees ZIBAWU’s financial management, ensuring transparency and accountability in all financial matters. His commitment to sound financial stewardship has strengthened the union’s fiscal position and enabled investment in member services.

Shepherd Ngandu – Assistant General Secretary

With a remarkable career spanning nearly three decades, Shepherd Ngandu has cultivated a unique expertise at the intersection of finance, governance, and social advocacy. A qualified Chartered Secretary, he has dedicated his professional life to strengthening organizational integrity and financial stewardship.

Beyond the boardroom, Shepherd’s impactful tenure as a trade union leader underscores a profound commitment to equitable workplaces and effective social dialogue. This rare combination of skills makes him a trusted advisor and a compelling voice on building resilient and responsible organizations.

Women Advisory Committee (WAC)

Chiedza Gwanyanya – WAC Chairperson

Chiedza was elected at Congress as WAC Vice Chairperson and was later elevated to Chairperson at the Main Congress when the previous chairperson became 3rd Vice President. She leads ZIBAWU’s efforts to promote gender equity, eliminate workplace harassment, and empower women in the financial sector.

Ruvimbo Chiundundu – WAC Executive Vice Secretary

Ruvimbo is a mother of five from Midlands Province. She previously served as Kwekwe WAC Chairperson and Zibawu Branch Secretary before being elected to her current national role. Working at FBC Bank Kwekwe branch, Ruvimbo (born June 7, 1983) is known for her strong Christian values and passion for supporting the less privileged.

She enjoys gardening and charitable work in her community, bringing the same compassion and dedication to her union work.

Loraine Mvura – WAC Organizing Secretary

Loraine is a dedicated advocate for women’s empowerment and rights, serving as the Organizing Secretary for the Women’s Advisory Committee (WAC) under ZIBAWU. With a strong passion for promoting gender equality and social justice, Loraine works tirelessly to support the committee’s mission and objectives.

Her role includes coordinating committee meetings, events, and activities, facilitating communication among committee members and stakeholders, developing and implementing strategies to promote women’s empowerment and rights, and collaborating with other organizations and community groups to advance the committee’s goals.

Her notable achievements include running a breast cancer awareness campaign in 2024, and organizing donations to Alaska Primary School, Kuwadzana Clinic, and Good Shepherd Children’s Home.

Nancy – WAC Treasurer

Nancy possesses a remarkable enthusiasm for championing women’s rights within the banking industry, and her dedication to this cause is truly inspiring. She actively serves as a committee member of the CABS National Workers Committee, where she focuses on advancing gender equality and promoting fair labour practices.

Currently, Nancy is the ZIBAWU National Women Advisory Committee (WAC) Treasurer and also serves as Vice Secretary in the WAC Mutare Branch. Her commitment to empowering women, fostering inclusive workplaces, and driving positive change continues to strengthen the voice and impact of women within the financial sector.

Young Workers Committee

Siphiweyinkosi Mpofu – Young Workers Chairperson

Siphiweyinkosi Mpofu is a passionate and dynamic young leader currently serving as the Young Workers Chairperson for the Zimbabwe Banks and Allied Workers Union (ZIBAWU). Her leadership journey within the union began as the Young Workers Organising Secretary at the 3rd Young Workers Congress, where she earned recognition for her dedication to advancing youth participation and worker empowerment.

Professionally, Siphiweyinkosi is based at ZB Bank in Victoria Falls, where she balances her professional and leadership roles with commitment and purpose. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Degree in Accounting and is pursuing a Master of Commerce in Strategic Management and Corporate Governance, reflecting her drive for growth and excellence.

Her advocacy focuses on promoting safe and inclusive workplaces through anti-harassment and anti-bullying campaigns, mental health and work-life balance initiatives, and the Know Your Rights campaign. Siphiweyinkosi is equally passionate about enhancing the visibility and social impact of the union, ensuring that young workers are informed, empowered, and actively shaping the future of the labour movement.

A strong believer in progressive leadership, Siphiweyinkosi represents the new generation of trade union leaders—visionary, resilient, and committed to bridging the gap between tradition and innovation in the fight for workers’ rights and equality.

Bothwell Manyasha – Vice Chairperson

Bothwell Manyasha was elected into the ZIBAWU Young Workers leadership in 2023 as Chairperson of the Bulawayo Branch and Vice Chairperson of the National Young Workers structure. Since then, he has developed a strong passion for leadership and community service.

He currently works as a Customer Service Teller at POSB, a position he assumed in June 2022. His personal mission is to pursue excellence in every area of his life and in all the roles he undertakes. Bothwell continuously plans, acts, and reflects on his journey to make a unique and positive impact in society. He upholds high ethical standards and strives to lead by example in everything he does.

Yvette Tafadzwa Chigara – Organising Secretary

Yvette Tafadzwa Chigara is the Organising Secretary of the Young Workers’ Committee. She is passionate about social justice, gender equality, and fair labour practices. Yvette is currently a Personal Banker at First Capital Bank Bulawayo. She actively advocates for gender-responsive policies and workers’ rights, contributing to a more equitable and inclusive labour environment.

Tafara Matupire – National Young Worker Secretary

Tafara Matupire serves as the ZIBAWU National Young Worker Secretary. He works for AFC Holdings, Commercial Bank stationed at the Head Office in Harare as a Credit Administration Officer. Tafara believes in inclusion and engagement of young people in all aspects that directly or indirectly affect them—“For Them, with Them.”

Rejecting the old adage that “The Future is Young,” Tafara asserts that “The Future is Here,” emphasizing the readiness and responsibility of young workers to take charge and lead. His outlook reflects a progressive vision of empowerment, unity, and youth-driven transformation.
